Why Does the Internet Disconnect During Peak Hours and How Can I Prevent It?

Navigating Internet Troubles in a Shared Household: Seeking Solutions

Hello readers,

I’ve recently found myself navigating the complexities of living in my partner’s parents’ home, and among the many adjustments, I’ve encountered a rather peculiar issue with the internet connection. The situation is quite unique — my partner’s stepfather is technically savvy and manages a rather complex home network. However, there seems to be an unfortunate coincidence: the internet tends to go offline at, shall we say, rather opportune moments.

After a family disagreement, the connection mysteriously drops, and despite my efforts to troubleshoot — resetting the router and modem as advised — the issue remains unsolved. It’s rather frustrating when the only time a resolution appears is after he returns home, engages in a heated conversation with a customer service representative, and voila, the internet is back online. Curiously enough, he vehemently denies any involvement in these mysterious outages.

To complicate matters further, he has restricted access to the administrative section of the network, leaving me without the ability to investigate or resolve issues myself. A hard reset of both the modem and router yields no results.

Given this unusual scenario, I’m reaching out for advice. What strategies could I employ to better manage this connection hiccup? Are there any additional steps I could take besides considering the option of setting up my own internet service?

Thank you in advance for any insights or experiences you can share. I intend to keep monitoring the situation and will aim to uncover a resolution that allows us all to enjoy a stable internet connection.

Warm regards,
