Troubleshooting a Mysterious Boot Failure on My Dell G3 3579 After Installing a New SSD
After recently upgrading my setup with a new solid-state drive (SSD), I embarked on installing a fresh operating system. Everything was smooth sailing for the first three days, but today, I was greeted by an unexpected setback: my computer failed to boot. The cryptic error message “Required device not found” appeared on the screen, leaving me puzzled about the potential cause.
In my attempts to troubleshoot, I realized that entering recovery mode proved futile; the system was unresponsive. Taking matters into my own hands, I booted from a recovery media and accessed the Command Prompt using DiskPart. To my surprise, while the SSD was shown as online, the partitions were marked as offline. How could this happen?
Given the urgency of the situation and the minimal data I had stored, I made the decision to fully clean the SSD and reformat it to GPT (GUID Partition Table). I then proceeded to reinstall Windows, hoping this would resolve the issue.

Reflections on the Issue
Upon further investigation, I learned that the partitions, while still in a healthy state, were offline. In hindsight, the general consensus among peers and online forums suggests that the SSD may have become disconnected at some point, resulting in the dismounting of the volumes. While the exact reason remains a mystery, it’s a scenario that I hope others can learn from.
