Troubleshooting Laptop Screen Flickering: Seeking Solutions

Recently, I encountered a perplexing issue with my Lenovo P51 laptop—the display started flickering and becoming distorted unexpectedly. This issue arose immediately after waking the device from sleep mode, despite having all updates for Windows 10 installed.

Despite multiple attempts to restart the laptop, the problem persisted. As a temporary solution, I connected a second monitor via HDMI, which functioned normally, allowing me to continue my work. I attempted to share a video of the flickering issue but, as luck would have it, my Wi-Fi became unstable during the upload process. Consequently, I managed to capture and share a photo of the problem instead.

Update: A Glimmer of Hope

In a more recent attempt to resolve the issue, I booted the laptop into Safe Mode. Unfortunately, the flickering continued, making it difficult to see what I was doing, which prevented me from uninstalling any drivers or making further adjustments. After holding down the power button for about 15 seconds and restarting, I was shocked to find that the screen flicker initially returned but then magically cleared up after a few seconds. While I’m relieved that the issue has seemingly resolved itself, I am left concerned about its potential return. Does anyone have insights or suggestions on what might have caused this discrepancy? I’d greatly appreciate any advice to prevent this from happening again in the future.
