Is Kaspersky Slowing Down Your Internet? My Frustrating Experience

Recently, I encountered a troubling issue that significantly impacted my online experience and productivity. After switching to Kaspersky for my antivirus protection, I noticed a staggering 60% reduction in my internet speed. As soon as I closed the application, my connection returned to normal, making it impossible for me to continue using it for my necessary tasks.

As someone who frequently downloads large files, a reliable and fast internet connection is vital. Ironically, this is when I feel I need antivirus protection the most. This predicament left me puzzled and frustrated, as I couldn’t simply deactivate Kaspersky while downloading important files.

Before Kaspersky, I used BitDefender for five years without a hitch, and my internet speed was consistently high. This abrupt drop in performance was something I had never experienced with any other antivirus software, including McAfee, Norton, and Avira—each of which maintained normal speed during my tests.

It became clear to me that Kaspersky was responsible for this issue. I even installed it on my work computer only to encounter the same slowdown. In an attempt to isolate the problem, I systematically disabled Kaspersky’s protection features one by one, yet there was no noticeable change in speed. I even turned off all features entirely but still faced the same sluggish internet. In contrast, BitDefender offers similar protections without the fallout on connection speed.

After engaging with their tech support, I was disheartened to find that they provided little assistance and refused to issue a refund. As a result, I feel stuck with an antivirus that is more of a hindrance than a help.

I share this experience not just to warn others, but also to offer my perspective on why you might want to reconsider using Kaspersky. If you are using this software and experiencing a slowdown, I recommend exploring alternatives, especially if your internet connection is crucial for your work.

For context, I pay a premium for my internet service, which is designed to deliver 400 Mbps speed. A significant drop of 60% due to an antivirus program is simply unacceptable, regardless of the task I’m working on.

If anyone has suggestions or better alternatives, your insight would be greatly appreciated!
