Question about a recently bought Asus Laptop, regarding temperatures

Exploring Temperature Concerns with the ASUS TUF A16 FA607PI Laptop

Recently, I acquired the ASUS TUF A16 FA607PI laptop, equipped with an impressive Ryzen 9 7845HX processor and an RTX 4070 graphics card. While I appreciate the powerful specs, I’ve noticed some concerns regarding the temperature levels during intense usage that I would like to address.

Right from the start, while using the balanced mode via G Helper, I recorded some unexpectedly high CPU temperatures. During gameplay—specifically with titles like Valorant and League of Legends—the CPU temperatures hovered between 90-95°C. The GPU, in comparison, maintained a more moderate range of 60-80°C, particularly in Ultimate mode. In a more demanding game like Resident Evil 2, the CPU can peak at around 97°C but eventually stabilizes around 85°C. Interestingly, despite these high temperatures, my CPU usage remained surprisingly low, typically between 10-20%.

In an effort to mitigate these temperatures, I discovered that disabling the CPU turbo feature through G Helper significantly lowers the temperatures, bringing them down to a manageable 60°C. Nonetheless, it’s perplexing that I need to take these drastic measures to prevent overheating.

I’ve come across varying opinions suggesting that AMD CPUs are designed to handle such high temperatures and may throttle 1-2 cores to remain responsive for demanding tasks. However, this raises questions about whether such high operating temperatures are truly normal or if there could be an underlying issue, such as inadequate thermal paste application at the factory.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that the fan speed typically ranges from 3000 to 4000 RPM, which seems to indicate that the cooling system is working hard to manage the heat.

If anyone has insights into whether these temperature readings are typical for this model or if there might be a potential defect, I would greatly appreciate your input. Your expertise could help clarify whether the performance and thermal management of my new laptop are within expected parameters or if further action is necessary.
