Suspected Account Hacking: Seeking Guidance for Resolution
Recently, I’ve encountered a troubling situation with my local school user profile, leading me to suspect that my account may have been compromised. At the moment, I can’t access my browsers, PDF documents, or Microsoft Word files. In an attempt to resolve these issues, I’ve already tried restarting my computer and performing updates. Additionally, I followed a helpful tutorial I found online, but unfortunately, I still haven’t been able to regain control of my files.
Every time I try to launch the Task Manager, I receive an error message, which I’ve included in a screenshot for reference. After consulting with my school’s IT administrator, I was advised to install Malwarebytes to scan for any potential threats and remove them. However, I ran into another stumbling block when this program failed to start and displayed a ‘fatal error’ message.
Interestingly, my other administrator account is functioning without any issues, but this has left me puzzled as to the best course of action for my current profile. I really want to avoid the option of deleting this user account since it contains a considerable amount of important files.
I’m reaching out here in hopes of receiving some guidance on what steps I should take next. Any advice from those who may have faced similar challenges would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
