Troubleshooting a Lagging PC: When a Mouse Change Turns into a Nightmare
Recently, I encountered a perplexing issue with my computer, which initially started when my trusty Razer mouse gave out on me. To keep the gaming momentum going, I resorted to using a spare IBuyPower mouse I had lying around, a basic model that came with my pre-built PC. However, this seemingly simple switch sparked a series of frustrating events for my gaming experience.
While using the IBuyPower mouse, I began to notice significant lagging. At first, I dismissed it, attributing it to maybe just temporary Software glitches. I pressed on and dove into some of my favorite games. However, in the midst of my gaming session, my computer performed an unexpected hard reset, prompting me to take immediate action.
Concerned about the stability of my setup, I quickly disconnected the IBuyPower mouse and powered off my computer. I decided to wait for my Logitech G305 mouse to arrive, hoping it would restore normalcy to my gaming experience. Yet, even after switching back to my G305, I continued to experience lag—almost as if the problematic mouse had left its mark on my system.
My main platform for identifying the issue was Valorant, but the lag quickly permeated other games such as Halo and Shadow of Mordor, along with everyday tasks like browsing Reddit. I checked all my hardware components, and everything tested fine. A hard reset did little to alleviate the situation, leaving me feeling stuck and confused.
If you’ve ever faced a similar predicament or possess any insights into potential resolutions I may have overlooked, I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Your expertise could help unravel this mystery and restore my gaming experience to its former glory!
