Despite being enamored with the device, I’ve had to replace the barrel jack four times through soldering due to frequent failures.

The DC jack is conveniently located on the laptop’s right side, nestled between the GPU vent and a few of the ports—specifically the SD card reader, Thunderbolt, and USB-A ports. This positioning may contribute to its vulnerability, as I often use the laptop in a dynamic environment where I’m not confined to a desk, primarily due to family activities and space constraints in my home.

The charging cable itself is robust and features a significant ferrite choke positioned close to the right-angle plug, which makes me question what might be causing these intermittent failures. While I’ve received suggestions on ways to mitigate the issue, such as reducing vibration or sideways pressure on the jack, these recommendations can be complex to implement. Moreover, I’ve learned that certain quick fixes like tape or glue are ill-advised, as they can lead to additional pressure being exerted on the jack if not applied perfectly.

I am genuinely looking for effective solutions or preventive measures to enhance the durability of this crucial component. My initial experience with Gigabyte’s RMA service was unsatisfactory, as the replacement didn’t last long before it succumbed to the same issues.
