Seeking Solutions for My Victus Gaming Laptop Dilemma
As a proud owner of a Victus gaming laptop, I recently encountered a frustrating issue that I hope to get some insights on. The touchpad of my laptop abruptly stopped functioning properly, causing it to fail to pop back up when clicked. In a moment of frustration, I attempted a rather ill-advised fix by wedging a knife underneath it while the laptop was still powered on. This misguided move resulted in a small spark and a bit of smoke. Surprisingly, the laptop continued to function well for the remainder of that night, but once the battery drained, it refused to power on again.
Afterwards, I took my device to a local repair shop, where the technician discovered a small burn hole in the battery along with a slightly damaged ribbon cable. He mentioned that he would replace the keyboard, which I assume was connected to the damaged cable, and I opted for a battery replacement since that seemed essential.
Upon picking up the laptop today, I was eager to set it up, only to find that the replacement battery did not fit properly under the cover. Despite being labeled as a compatible replacement with the same voltage, the new battery was both thicker and had different watt-hour specifications. Frustrated but hopeful, I only connected the new battery and did not attempt to power on the laptop. After realizing the cover wouldn’t fit, I decided to run the laptop directly plugged into the wall without the battery. Initially, it performed well for about two minutes before it suddenly clicked and shut off. Now it won’t turn on at all, and there’s no light indication even when plugged in.
The technician at the repair shop speculated that the new battery might have caused some sort of malfunction just by being connected, even without the laptop being powered on. This leaves me wondering: why would the laptop work briefly and then turn off?
To provide some context, I’ve included a photo comparing the original battery (on the bottom) to the newly acquired one (on the top).
If anyone has experienced similar issues or has knowledge on what might have gone wrong, I would greatly appreciate your tips or advice. Thank you!
