Reviving the Mars Motherboard: An Update on My Restoration Journey
After a dedicated two days of meticulous cleaning, I’m excited to share the latest progress on my Mars motherboard restoration project. The internal components are now spotless, setting the stage for the next phase: sourcing the necessary GPU and RAM.
Currently, I have equipped the system with a brand new power supply, a pristine hard drive still in its packaging, a PCI 4 USB port, and a network card (though I’ll admit, its utility might be questionable). The centerpiece of this setup is an aging but nostalgic Pentium 3 processor, which allows me to delve into classic operating systems. I’m considering options like Windows 2000 or Windows 98, and there’s even a possibility of running Windows XP, albeit limited to Service Pack 2.
As I continue this tech revival, I would love to hear your recommendations. What operating system do you think would pair best with this classic setup? Any advice on where to find suitable GPU and RAM components would also be greatly appreciated!
