Troubleshooting a Lagging PC After an Accidental Drop
Accidents happen, and sometimes they can lead to unforeseen issues with our technology. Recently, I had a troubling incident when a 5-pound dumbbell fell onto my computer’s system unit. Prior to this mishap, my PC was functioning without any problems. However, after the incident, I began experiencing significant lag while using it.
Upon inspection, I noticed a small dent on the case and the front panel was nearly popped open. This raised some immediate concerns, and as a relatively inexperienced user, I turned to the BIOS for any signs of trouble.
In my initial investigation, I encountered a recurring message upon booting my system: “Operating System is missing.” This was definitely alarming, and I found that the only way to resolve it was to power down the machine and turn it back on, only to face similar issues again shortly thereafter.
The situation worsened when I checked the BIOS settings and noticed that the CPU temperature was rising alarmingly high, reaching a staggering 99 degrees Celsius. This information prompted me to seek further solutions to stabilize my system.
If you’ve had similar experiences or have insight on resolving issues following hardware accidents, your advice would be greatly appreciated. With a bit of guidance, I hope to restore my computer back to its previous smooth performance.
