Initially, I felt an unsettling chill run down my spine. The hacker’s casual tone seemed intended to alleviate fear, but it only heightened my anxiety. Minutes later, I noticed something bizarre: my cursor began to move independently across the screen. It gravitated towards the Windows Search Bar and opened the Notes application, where I was startled to see the hacker type “hello.”

I felt an odd mix of curiosity and fear, prompting me to respond with “WHO IS THIS?” The hacker claimed that I had unintentionally downloaded a virus and connected to “his panel”—a term that filled me with dread. He described a network of connections he monitored, asserting that he had seen my device listed there. After a brief exchange, the screen flickered, and a message appeared: “Host terminated connection – Client Disconnected.” Just like that, I was back in front of a normal desktop screen, but the anxiety remained.

I had previously downloaded a game from GameJolt that essentially altered my desktop background and included a popup intended to be spooky. However, that experience didn’t correlate with the hacker’s assertion that I had inadvertently accessed his system. The entire event left me feeling unsettled and cautious.
