Entering the world of cybersecurity can often feel like stepping into a prestigious realm, particularly when you possess a Master’s degree and have secured positions with renowned companies. At first glance, my three-year journey in this field appeared successful. However, beneath the surface, I’ve been grappling with an overwhelming sense of fatigue.
Despite my passion for the intricacies of cybersecurity, I find myself increasingly drained by the demands of the profession. Each day presents a new challenge, and while the work itself is rewarding in theory, the reality can be a relentless struggle. I often push through my daily obligations, forcing myself to tackle tasks that would naturally take several days within a mere eight-hour window. These unrealistic expectations leave me feeling exhausted and unfulfilled.
The cycle is familiar: a demanding 9-to-5 schedule, sometimes spilling into the evenings, results in little energy left for personal interests or even essential chores. I find myself in a seeming loop of work and recovery, with occasional vacations providing only temporary relief from the grind.
