At a lost, I’m an IT guy and I can’t figure this out…

Troubleshooting a Non-functional Nvidia 3060 GPU: A Guide for IT Professionals

As an IT professional, encountering hardware issues can sometimes feel like an insurmountable challenge. Recently, I found myself in such a predicament after purchasing a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card. The GPU functioned flawlessly for two weeks, but suddenly it has ceased to operate properly.

In an effort to resolve this issue, I have embarked on a comprehensive troubleshooting journey. Here are some of the steps I have taken so far:

  1. Driver Reinstallation: I began by reinstalling the graphics drivers to ensure that any potential software conflicts would be eliminated. Unfortunately, this did not yield the desired results.

  2. BIOS Updates: Next, I explored the possibility of outdated firmware by updating the BIOS. I also considered reverting to an earlier version in case the newest update caused more issues than it solved.

  3. Windows Reversion and Reinstallation: I have reverted the operating system back to previous versions and even performed a complete Windows reinstall. Despite these efforts, the problem persists.

While the Device Manager recognizes the graphics card without any issues, no other applications seem to detect it. This has left me perplexed and in need of further insight.

I am reaching out to the community for additional suggestions. Has anyone faced a similar challenge with a laptop GPU, and if so, what approaches did you take to resolve it? Your insights and expertise would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this frustrating situation.

If you’ve experienced similar hurdles, I encourage you to share your strategies and solutions. Together, we can unravel this mystery and get that Nvidia 3060 back up and running smoothly!
