Can Using the Power Button to Reset Your PC Damage Hardware?
Greetings, fellow tech enthusiasts!
I wanted to share a recent experience and seek some reassurance from the community regarding a concern I have. As a newly minted computer builder, I take great pride in my latest creation. However, I faced an unexpected hiccup during my setup that left me feeling a bit anxious about my hardware.
After meticulously assembling my new PC, I encountered an issue with Windows struggling to boot properly—it got stuck on the login screen. In my moments of frustration, I opted for a hard reset using the power button. Thankfully, after exploring the BIOS and updating it along with various drivers, I was able to resolve the booting problem. My system is now running smoothly, but I can’t shake off a lingering worry that this abrupt reset may have harmed my hardware.
For those of you who have more experience in building and maintaining PCs, could you please clarify whether frequently resetting your system this way could lead to potential damage? I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice to help assuage my concerns.
Thank you in advance for your expertise! It truly means a lot to this novice builder.
