Title: Navigating Internet Issues with Security Cameras: A Tenant’s Dilemma
As a new tenant, finding your footing in a new living situation can be challenging, particularly when it comes to shared amenities like security systems. Recently, I moved into a property where the landlord has placed security cameras in common areas, with the Network Video Recorder (NVR) located in my apartment. While I appreciate the added layer of security, I’ve noticed some frustrating side effects—specifically, frequent slowdowns in my Internet connection.
It seems that the Internet lags most noticeably when the landlord is actively streaming footage from the cameras. Coincidentally, we’ve received messages from him about smoking regulations right when we were on the patio, which makes me feel like he’s keeping a close eye on the situation.
Given that I’m the one paying for the Internet access and the router is physically in my space, I’m left wondering if there are any practical solutions to manage this bandwidth issue. Is there a way to limit the amount of Internet bandwidth that the security cameras utilize, allowing me to enjoy a more consistent and reliable connection?
