Before joining Kraken, Nick held significant roles such as the Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an innovative industrial AI company, and Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity solutions provider. His diverse experience also includes presenting at major cybersecurity conferences like Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, where he has shared critical insights on security breaches, malware, mobile security, and emerging trends in information security.

Nick’s journey in technology began at a remarkably young age. He started coding at just seven years old on a Timex Sinclair 1000 and quickly progressed to participating in the vibrant Chicagoland bulletin board systems (BBS) community in the late 80s and early 90s, using a Commodore 64 and later an Intel 386 PC running Linux.

Contributing to the Hacker Community

An active figure in the Chicago hacker community for several decades, Nick is also the founder of THOTCON, a well-respected hacker conference that will be celebrating its 12th edition in 2023. His commitment to cybersecurity extends to investigating some of history’s most significant data breaches. Over the past four years at Kraken, he has been instrumental in creating robust security programs designed to safeguard the cryptocurrency platform against potential threats.
