Is My computer repair Experience Turning Into a Nightmare?
Hello, fellow tech enthusiasts,
I find myself in a rather troubling situation that I could use your advice on. Recently, I took my 2.5-year-old Lenovo Yoga laptop to a small computer repair service due to some persistent issues. Every time I used it, the screen would glitch out, displaying odd black and colorful squares. After attempting to troubleshoot the problem myself—updating the graphics driver and trying various fixes—I decided it was best to seek a professional’s help.
I chose a local repair shop based on impressive online reviews. Upon meeting the technician outside his office, I explained my situation, hoping he could provide a quick assessment and an estimate for the repair costs. As a student with limited funds, I wanted to gauge whether it was worth pursuing or if I should simply let the laptop go.
However, things took a strange turn a few days after I left my laptop with him. He mentioned he was ordering a replacement part that I couldn’t identify—there was little information available online about it. When I expressed my concern about this unfamiliar component, he seemed irritated. To make matters worse, I haven’t received any communication from him for nearly a month now, despite my attempts to follow up. My laptop has been in his possession since May 25th, and I rely on it heavily for both work and school.
I’ve attached a link to a screenshot of our conversations for context: Screenshot.
At this point, I’m feeling increasingly frustrated and uncertain about what to do next. Is this type of delay and lack of communication standard in the repair industry? I’m eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions on how I should proceed in resolving this troubling situation.
Thank you!
