Troubleshooting Persistent BSODs in Windows 11: Seeking Guidance
Hello, fellow tech enthusiasts,
I find myself in a frustrating situation with my computer and could really use some advice. I primarily use my PC for coding and gaming, averaging about 6–8 hours a week. However, I’ve been plagued by frequent blue screens of death (BSODs)—occurring every two minutes—since yesterday.
What I Encountered
Initially, I faced the issue of being unable to boot into Windows at all. During this time, Steam displayed a “failed to load correctly” error. After uninstalling Steam, I managed to access Windows and my applications, but only momentarily—less than two minutes—before another BSOD struck. The error code displayed was DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
.
Steps I’ve Taken
To troubleshoot this overwhelming issue, I’ve attempted several solutions:
-
Reinstalled Graphics Drivers: I removed my graphics driver in hopes that Windows would reinstall it automatically upon startup. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue.
-
Memory Scan: I ran a memory diagnostic, and all checks came back clear.
-
Bluescreen Viewer Analysis: I inspected the BSOD logs and found that
NTOSKRNL.exe
had failed. The dump analysis pointed to errors linked topshed.dll
andaf-unix.sys
. -
NVMe SSD Check: I attempted to remove and reattach my NVMe SSD, thinking it might help, but to no avail.
Today’s Developments
This morning brought some slight improvement, as my system managed to run for about four minutes before crashing again. However, my BIOS now takes an unusually long time to start. After multiple attempts, I’ve started encountering BSODs even during the BIOS loading phase, with a new stop code: KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
, and an error message indicating that amdfender.sys
had failed.
