Is My Father Spying on My Phone? Seeking Help with an Unexpected Discovery
Recently, I stumbled upon a rather concerning situation that I hope to shed some light on—both for myself and anyone else who might be facing something similar. I’m not particularly tech-savvy, so I’m reaching out for advice and solutions that are straightforward.
Here’s the backstory: I live about 40 minutes away from my parents, and I’ve noticed some peculiar behavior from my father, which has raised concerns for both my mother and me. During a visit today, my mother discovered an unusual USB device—a strange gadget that has a button and a switch on one side. Out of curiosity, I plugged it into my laptop, and what I found was shocking; I came across recordings of my mother’s private conversations alongside some of my own discussions with her and my sister from just hours earlier, including a recent phone call with my boyfriend.
To clarify, my father has never been given access to my phone, and my mother hasn’t shared hers either—she uses a newer model of an iPhone, while I have a Galaxy Note 9. This begs the question: how is this possible?
As someone who isn’t particularly versed in technology, I’m baffled by the idea that he could listen in on my conversations when I’m at home. I’m hesitant to bring this up directly with him, as it raises significant issues between him and my mother, but I need to know how to protect myself in case my phone has been compromised.
If anyone has experience with situations like this or can provide practical advice on how to secure my phone and ensure my privacy, I would greatly appreciate it.
Update: Wow, I didn’t anticipate my post gaining so much attention! I’m grateful for all the insights and suggestions shared. Please bear with me as I take some time to process everything and follow through on the advice given. Thank you all for your kindness and support!
