Tackling Mouse Lag Issues: My Journey and Seeking Solutions
After investing more than 50 hours into troubleshooting my new P51 ThinkPad, I finally found a significant boost in performance by removing Cortana. This change resolved approximately 75% of the mouse lag issues I was experiencing. Now, I’m on a quest to address the remaining 25% of the problem.
The primary concern has been mouse lag, particularly when interacting with Flash-generated slides in Chrome—an essential task for my daily work. Unfortunately, despite my relentless efforts—including uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, updating software, and even performing a complete system restore—my mouse continues to exhibit stuttering behavior every 3 to 5 seconds when I navigate within these slides.
Interestingly, I discovered that reducing the size of the window or scaling down the slides almost eliminates the lag. However, this workaround isn’t sustainable, as I require a clear view of my work.
Many users have pointed out that Cortana could be a culprit behind the lag, so I decided to disable her, which undoubtedly led to noticeable improvements. Nevertheless, the experience is still far from seamless, prompting me to seek additional strategies to achieve a smoother operation.
If anyone has suggestions or has successfully overcome similar issues, I would greatly appreciate your insights.
Update: Thank you all for your suggestions; I’ve tried a variety of them, but the issue persists. It’s worth mentioning that the mouse operates perfectly when not over the Flash slides, confirming that the problem is localized to that specific area. Any further recommendations would be immensely appreciated!
