Troubleshooting Mouse Lag on My ThinkPad: Seeking Solutions for That Last 25%
After a painstaking 50 hours of troubleshooting, I made a surprising discovery that brought a remarkable 75% reduction in mouse lag on my new ThinkPad P51. By removing Cortana, the infamous virtual assistant, I experienced a noticeable improvement. However, I’m still grappling with that final 25% of lag, particularly when interacting with Flash-based presentations in Chrome, which is a crucial part of my daily work.
Despite my best efforts, the complete resolution of this issue has evaded me. I’ve undertaken a comprehensive series of steps, including uninstalling and reinstalling all my drivers, updating key software, and even resorting to a full system restore. Unfortunately, these strategies have yet to yield a flawless resolution.
The glitch presents itself as a frustrating stutter every few seconds as I navigate the slides. Initially, I sought advice from the online community, where many users indicated that Cortana could be a significant contributor to mouse lag. After removing it, I did see immediate improvement, but I’m still looking for additional tactics to restore complete performance.
Interestingly, it appears that reducing the size of my working window or scaling down the slides can alleviate the lag, yet these adjustments are not practical for my workflow, as I need clear visibility of the content.
I’m eager to hear from anyone who has dealt with similar mouse responsiveness issues or who may have tips for further optimizations.
Update:
I sincerely appreciate all the suggestions from the community so far! I’ve diligently tried nearly every proposed solution, but the problem persists. I want to clarify that the mouse functions flawlessly when not over the Flash slides; the lag only occurs when the cursor interacts with that specific content.
If you have any insights or further recommendations, your assistance would be greatly valued!
