Tackling Mouse Lag Issues on Your Computer: Tips and Insights

Have you ever faced the frustrating experience of mouse lag, especially when working on critical tasks? I recently encountered this issue with my brand new P51 ThinkPad. After countless hours spent troubleshooting, I discovered some significant insights that might help you if you’re in a similar situation.

The Struggle with Mouse Lag

Despite my best efforts—uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, updating my software, and even restoring my computer to factory settings—the mouse lag persisted when I interacted with Flash-generated ‘slides’ in Chrome, which is an essential part of my daily work. Every few seconds, my cursor would stutter, making it nearly impossible to focus on the task at hand.

A Surprising Solution: Cortana

Interestingly, I stumbled upon a solution that alleviated a large portion of my problem. Many users had mentioned that Cortana can contribute to mouse lag, so I decided to disable it. To my astonishment, this action resolved approximately 75% of the lag. While I welcomed this improvement, I still found that my mouse wasn’t functioning as smoothly as I desired, particularly when engaged with those Flash slides.
