Unearthing a Piece of Tech History: My Dad’s Sharp PC-7000
While doing some spring cleaning in the shed recently, I stumbled across something unexpected—a portable computer belonging to my father. This was no ordinary find; it was a Sharp PC-7000, a fascinating relic from the past.
Curiosity piqued, I couldn’t resist snapping a quick photo of it resting on my lap. After years tucked away in the shed, where it was presumably kept to evade the resident spiders, I was pleasantly surprised to see it power up with just a little jolt from the plug.
This vintage machine is a reminder of how far we’ve come in technology. My dad often brought this device to his classes, making it evident that it was once considered cutting-edge technology. What amazed me further is that we still have some floppy disks compatible with it!
Discovering the Sharp PC-7000 has offered me a unique glimpse into the past, a time when technology was both simpler and yet so innovative in its own right. It’s incredible to think about the journey technology has taken since those days, and I look forward to exploring what memories this old machine holds for my family.
