Discovering a Piece of History: My Dad’s Sharp PC-7000
While organizing the clutter in our shed, I stumbled upon a fascinating relic from the past: my father’s portable computer, the Sharp PC-7000. This discovery took me on a nostalgic journey, reminding me of how far technology has come.
As I unearthed the device from its somewhat dusty resting place, I couldn’t help but marvel at its vintage aesthetics. The only photograph I managed to capture was of me sitting with the computer on my lap, a moment that felt almost surreal. Although it resides outdoors now, primarily to evade the ever-present spiders, I was pleasantly surprised to see it power up immediately after being plugged in. It’s astonishing to think that we still have floppy disks available for it, too!
Reflecting on its history, it became clear how revolutionary the Sharp PC-7000 was for its time. My dad often took it with him to classes, highlighting the mobility and innovation that shaped the computing world back then. It served not just as a tool for work or study but also as a testament to the technological advancements of the era.
Finding this piece of personal history prompted me to appreciate the evolution of computers and how they have transformed from a niche tool for scholars into an integral part of everyday life. It stands as a reminder of our past and the remarkable journey of technology – one floppy disk at a time.
