During my quarantine, I tried to access 4K VR videos from Pornhub Premium for research purposes, but they failed to play. (Version 1)

Troubleshooting 4K VR Video Playback Issues on Windows and iOS

As I navigate through quarantine, I’ve taken the opportunity to explore some 4K VR adult content on Pornhub Premium. However, I’ve run into some frustrating technical issues that others may relate to.

After subscribing to Pornhub Premium, I was excited about the ability to download high-resolution videos in 1440p and 4K formats. I grabbed several 4K VR MP4 files, each exceeding 1GB, anticipating an immersive experience. Unfortunately, when I tried to play these videos on my PC, I encountered a problem: the audio was intact, but I faced a blank screen featuring a distorted green line at the top. At times, the entire display turned green, and the video player frequently froze. I attempted to resolve this using both VLC Media Player and MPC-HC, but it seemed as if the videos were corrupted.

My original aim was to view these videos on the Mobile VR Station app with a mobile VR headset, but I encountered another setback. The app displayed a “Cannot decode” error—another layer of frustration in this tech conundrum.

I would appreciate any insights or guidance on how to tackle this situation, as it has become somewhat of an emergency for me!

Update: It turns out that the playback issue is isolated to the Mobile VR Station app on iOS. Interestingly, the videos worked well on my Windows machine using the default video player and VLC after I disabled hardware encoding. My next step is to find a more reliable mobile application for viewing these videos.

Second Update: I explored the SKYBOX VR Video Player for iOS, which seemed promising. While the app recognizes the videos, they unfortunately appear with a black screen accompanied by audio only.

If anyone has recommendations for compatible VR video players that can handle these formats, I would greatly appreciate it!

    Hi there,

It sounds like you’re experiencing some common challenges when trying to play high-resolution VR videos across different platforms. Here are some troubleshooting steps and recommendations:

    • Ensure Hardware Compatibility: 4K VR videos are demanding and require compatible hardware. On Windows, verify your GPU supports 4K playback and that your graphics drivers are up to date. For mobile devices, ensure your device supports 4K decoding and VR streaming.
    • Use Updated Video Players: While VLC and MPC-HC are solid choices, some VR-specific players like SKYBOX VR Video Player and VR Player may offer better compatibility and decoding capabilities.
    • Check Video Codec and Format: Ensure your videos are encoded with codecs supported by your playback applications. Commonly supported codecs include H.264 and H.265 (HEVC). If you encounter playback issues,
