Unearthing Nostalgia: The Sharp PC-7000 in My Shed
Recently, while tidying up the shed, I stumbled upon a remarkable piece of technology from the past: my father’s Sharp PC-7000 portable computer. This vintage machine instantly transported me back to an era when computing was just beginning to evolve.
With dust covering its exterior, it was clear that this device had been tucked away for quite some time. I couldn’t resist taking a quick snapshot of the computer resting on my lap, a glimpse into the tech of yesteryear. Although it currently resides outdoors to avoid the pesky spiders that seem to thrive in forgotten corners, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it powered on effortlessly when plugged in.
What’s even more fascinating is that we still possess floppy disks for the machine, relics of a time when data transfer was a physical act, and each disk held a certain mystique.
As I explored its features, I was reminded of the pivotal role this computer played in my father’s education. The Sharp PC-7000 was truly a marvel in its time—portable, functional, and ahead of its contemporaries. It’s incredible to think that this device accompanied him to classes, bridging the gap between technology and learning long before laptops became commonplace.
