Troubleshooting a Worn-Out Notebook GPU: A Frustrated IT Specialist’s Quest for a Solution
As an IT professional, I pride myself on solving complex issues, but I recently found myself grappling with a particularly perplexing problem involving a used laptop I purchased from my previous workplace. The machine was equipped with an Nvidia GeForce 3060 GPU, which functioned smoothly for two weeks before suddenly ceasing to work.
In my attempt to resolve this issue, I have undertaken numerous troubleshooting steps. I began by reinstalling the graphics drivers and applied the latest BIOS updates available. When those didn’t work, I rolled back the BIOS and Windows updates, hoping to restore functionality. I even went so far as to completely uninstall the drivers and revert to older versions. To top it off, I performed a fresh installation of Windows, only to revert to a previous operating system version when that didn’t yield any results.
Interestingly, the GPU is recognized in the Device Manager without any apparent issues, yet it remains unacknowledged by other applications, leaving me at a stalemate.
Has anyone else experienced a similar predicament or could someone offer insight into potential next steps? Your advice could help me get this laptop back on track!
