Feeling frustrated as an IT professional: I just can’t crack this problem…

Troubleshooting GPU Issues: A Journey into the Unknown

As an IT professional, I often find myself navigating through a variety of technical challenges, but sometimes, even the most experienced among us can feel stumped. Recently, I encountered a perplexing issue with a used laptop I purchased from my employer: an Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU that had been functioning perfectly for the first two weeks. Sadly, it has now ceased to operate as expected, and I’m at a bit of a loss.

To troubleshoot the problem, I’ve employed several strategies. Initially, I attempted to reinstall the drivers while also ensuring that my BIOS was up to date. When that didn’t yield results, I explored the option of reverting recent BIOS and Windows updates. I even took the drastic step of uninstalling the drivers and switching back to older versions. In a final effort, I completely reinstalled Windows and tried downgrading to a previous version, hoping that might restore functionality.

Interestingly, the GPU is still recognized in the device manager, yet none of the applications acknowledge its presence. This has left me scratching my head. If anyone has experienced similar issues or has any insights into other potential remedies, your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Navigating the world of tech can be challenging, especially when you feel like you’re running in circles. Let’s pool our knowledge and see if together we can find a solution!
