Feeling Stuck: An IT Professional’s Struggle to Solve This Problem… (Variation 23)

Troubleshooting a Non-Responsive Nvidia 3060 GPU: A Techie’s Dilemma

As an IT professional, it can be frustrating when technology doesn’t behave as expected. Recently, I encountered an issue with a used laptop I purchased from my company, which came equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card. For the first two weeks, everything functioned perfectly. However, a few days ago, the GPU suddenly stopped working, and I found myself at a loss.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I undertook several troubleshooting steps. First, I reinstalled the graphics drivers, updated the BIOS, and even reverted to previous versions for both the BIOS and Windows updates. I also tried uninstalling the drivers entirely and rolling back to older versions. When those actions did not yield results, I performed a complete reinstallation of Windows and tested older system versions to see if that might rectify the problem.

Interestingly, while the device manager recognizes the graphics card without any issues, no other applications seem to detect it. This leaves me wondering if anyone in the tech community has experienced a similar challenge or has advice to offer. Have you encountered a situation like this, and if so, what steps did you take to restore functionality?

Your insights would be immensely appreciated as I navigate this frustrating technical obstacle.
