Feeling Stumped: An IT Professional’s Struggle to Solve This Problem (Variation 68)

Troubleshooting a Mysterious Laptop GPU Issue: Seeking Solutions

As an IT professional, I pride myself on my ability to resolve technical issues efficiently. However, I’m currently stumped by a perplexing problem with a used laptop I recently purchased from my employer. The laptop features an Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU, which performed flawlessly for the first two weeks of use but has now ceased to function.

I’ve attempted a variety of troubleshooting steps to diagnose and resolve the issue, including:

  1. Driver Reinstallation: I have reinstalled the GPU drivers multiple times to ensure that any corruption or incompatibility is addressed.
  2. BIOS Updates: I searched for and applied any available BIOS updates, hoping to bring the system up to speed with the latest compatibility fixes.
  3. System Updates: I tried reverting recent BIOS and Windows updates to see if they were causing any conflicts.
  4. Driver Rollbacks: Uninstalling the GPU drivers and reverting to previous versions seemed a sensible approach, but unfortunately did not yield any results.
  5. Windows Reinstallation: As a last resort, I completely reinstalled Windows and even attempted to revert to an earlier version, but the GPU remains unresponsive.

Despite my efforts, the GPU is recognized in Device Manager but is not acknowledged by any other programs, leaving me scratching my head.

If anyone in the community has insights or suggestions that could help me troubleshoot this issue further, I would greatly appreciate your input. Your expertise could be the key to solving this frustrating dilemma!
