Feeling Stumped: An IT Professional’s Struggle to Solve This Puzzle (Variation 33)

Troubleshooting a Sudden GPU Failure on a Used Laptop: A Call for Help

As a professional in the IT field, facing unexpected technical challenges is a common occurrence. However, it’s never easy when a simple problem becomes a complex puzzle. Recently, I acquired a used laptop from my workplace equipped with an Nvidia GeForce 3060 GPU. For the first two weeks, everything functioned smoothly. Yet, just a few days ago, the GPU began to fail, and I find myself at a crossroads, unsure of the next steps to take.

In my attempts to diagnose the issue, I’ve undertaken a series of troubleshooting measures that are well within my realm of expertise. I’ve reinstalled the graphics drivers multiple times, conducted BIOS updates, and even reverted both BIOS and Windows updates as a precautionary measure. I also tried uninstalling the current drivers and rolling back to earlier versions. My efforts didn’t stop there; I even went so far as to reinstall Windows from scratch and reverted to a previous version, hoping something would click back into place.

Despite these efforts, the device manager recognizes the GPU without any apparent issues; however, it seems completely unresponsive to third-party applications that require it. This has left me puzzled and seeking insight from the broader tech community.

If anyone has encountered similar problems or possesses insights into potential fixes for such a situation, your input would be immensely appreciated. Let’s work together to unravel this mysterious GPU malfunction!
