Feeling Stumped: As an IT Professional, I Can’t Solve This Issue… (Variation 86)

Troubleshooting GPU Issues: When Your Nvidia 3060 Notebook GPU Stops Working

As an IT professional, troubleshooting technical issues is part of the job. However, I recently encountered a perplexing problem that has left me scratching my head. I bought a used laptop from my previous workplace equipped with an Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU. For the first two weeks, everything ran smoothly, but suddenly, the GPU stopped functioning.

I’ve tried a variety of solutions to get it back up and running. These included reinstalling the drivers, performing BIOS updates, and even rolling back both BIOS and Windows updates. I attempted uninstalling the GPU drivers and reverting to older versions. To top it off, I undertook a complete reinstallation of Windows and reverted to an earlier version just for good measure.

Despite these efforts, the device manager recognizes the GPU without issues, yet it remains unrecognized by any other program on the system. This has been quite frustrating, and I find myself seeking advice or potential solutions from others who may have faced a similar challenge.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or have suggestions on what I could try next? Any insights would be greatly appreciated to help me troubleshoot this challenging situation further!
