Feeling Stumped: As an IT Professional, I Can’t Solve This Problem…

Troubleshooting a Sudden GPU Failure on a Used Laptop: Seeking Solutions

As an IT professional, it can sometimes be disheartening to encounter technical issues that leave you scratching your head. Recently, I purchased a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card from my previous employer. For the first two weeks, everything functioned seamlessly. However, just a few days ago, the GPU unexpectedly stopped working.

In an effort to resolve this issue, I have taken several steps. Initially, I reinstalled the graphics drivers and performed a BIOS update, hoping these actions would reinstate functionality. I also tried rolling back both the BIOS and Windows updates, as well as reverting to older driver versions. In a more drastic approach, I even reinstalled Windows entirely and opted for an earlier version of the operating system.

Interestingly, the graphics card appears correctly in the Device Manager, indicating that the system recognizes it at a basic level. However, it remains unrecognized by any other applications, which leads me to wonder if anyone else has encountered a similar problem.

If you have any insight or suggestions for resolving this GPU issue, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
