Troubleshooting a Non-Functional Nvidia 3060: A Tech Conundrum
As an IT professional, encountering unexpected technical difficulties can be frustrating, especially when things start out smoothly. Recently, I purchased a used laptop equipped with an Nvidia 3060 graphics card from my workplace. For the first two weeks, everything functioned seamlessly. However, just a few days ago, the GPU ceased to operate, leaving me puzzled and seeking solutions.
In an effort to resolve the issue, I have undertaken several troubleshooting measures. I began by reinstalling the graphics drivers and updating the BIOS, only to find no improvement. I even reverted the BIOS and Windows updates, uninstalled the drivers, and tried restoring older versions, but still no success. As a last resort, I performed a complete Windows reinstall, followed by attempts to revert to a previous Windows iteration.
Interestingly, the device manager identifies the graphics card without issue. However, it remains unrecognized by any other applications, raising questions about the underlying problem.
I’m reaching out to the community for assistance—has anyone encountered a similar scenario or does anyone have suggestions on how to move forward? Your insights would be greatly appreciated as I look to restore this laptop to its full potential.
