Generally speaking, how much do you all care about SteamOS being released for other devices?

The Future of Gaming: Will SteamOS Challenge Windows?

As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, many enthusiasts are buzzing about the potential of SteamOS being adopted across a broader range of devices. This discussion has sparked a debate about whether we might be witnessing the beginning of the end for Windows in the gaming realm, especially with Valve’s bold moves.

Some voices in the gaming community suggest that Microsoft should be worried about the rise of SteamOS, claiming it is merely a matter of time before Linux gains significant traction in mainstream PC gaming. The argument suggests that Windows, as it stands, may be on shaky ground.

As someone who has recently transitioned from Windows 10 to EndeavourOS, I can personally attest to the merits of using Linux. However, I remain skeptical about the notion that SteamOS will pose a serious threat to Microsoft’s dominance. It seems unlikely that the average consumer will venture outside their comfort zone to install a new operating system, especially one that is not pre-installed on their machine.

The reality is that for most users, familiarity with their existing system often outweighs the desire to explore alternatives. Despite the strong appeal that Linux-based systems offer, I doubt there will be a seismic shift that instills fear in Microsoft.

That said, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Do you believe SteamOS can carve out a significant place in the gaming world, or will Windows continue to reign supreme? Your insights and opinions are welcome!
