Troubleshooting GPU Issues: A Journey to Resolution
Today, I encountered a perplexing issue while assembling a custom PC for a friend. After successfully connecting all components, I powered it on, and while the case lights, motherboard, and CPU fan lit up beautifully, the graphics card remained silent. There was no output to the monitor, and to top it off, the ‘GIGABYTE’ logo failed to illuminate, which was quite concerning.
All the components in this build were brand new, except for the graphics card. I decided to reuse my trusty old GPU, which had served me well for about a year. However, I was perplexed when I inserted this card into my current rig, and it worked flawlessly, lighting up the display without any issues.
Curiously, I then attempted to swap out my main graphics card—a powerful RTX 3080—into my friend’s machine, only to find the same frustrating scenario: the fans whirred to life, but the lights stayed off, and there was no video output.
After triple-checking everything, I felt confident that the power supply was more than adequate and that all connections were secure. I even tested the monitor I used to ensure it was functional. Yet, I was stuck without a solution.
An Unexpected Twist
In a moment of impatience and perhaps a touch of frustration, I opted to purchase a new motherboard for my friend’s build and undertook a full rebuild. To my relief, this decisive action resolved the dilemma!
