Has anyone come across a black window that isn’t the Command Prompt?

Unraveling the Mystery of a Mysterious Black Window

Have you ever stumbled upon a peculiar, dark window on your computer screen that doesn’t quite resemble the standard command prompt? At first glance, I suspected it might be a dead pixel, but to my surprise, I was able to interact with it by dragging it around with my mouse.

Curiosity piqued, I turned to the task manager to identify any unfamiliar applications. However, everything appeared normal, with no suspicious entries in sight. This strange interface looked like it appeared whenever my cursor hovered over text input fields; it had a somewhat transparent quality, almost as if it were an overlay.

Unable to share any images directly here, I will describe it further: Picture a window reminiscent of the command prompt, but with distinct differences. If you’re interested, you can check out the pictures I uploaded here: Weird window – Imgur.

Naturally, I wondered if this could be a sign of malware lurking in my system. Should I take the drastic step of reinstalling Windows to ensure my computer’s safety?

Update: A Breakthrough!

Following suggestions from some helpful Reddit users, I took a deep dive into the issue using a tool called Process Explorer. To my astonishment, I tracked the enigmatic black window down to One Dragon Center’s voice recognition feature. It seems that this particular application was the source of my confusion. I typically use Dragon Center solely for customizing RGB lighting for my social media posts, so I had no idea it had such functionalities.

After uninstalling the application and restarting my computer, I can confirm that the strange window has vanished. I appreciate everyone who offered guidance and support during this little tech mystery! Always a reminder to investigate anomalies on our devices!
