Safeguarding Your Files When Faced with Potential Virus Infections

Dealing with a potential virus infection on your laptop can be a daunting experience, especially when it comes to preserving your important files. Recently, I encountered such a situation where my antivirus Software, Norton, identified a virus and subsequently removed it. Although my laptop appears to be functioning normally, I am considering a full reset for peace of mind. The challenge arises from not having a backup of my essential files, which complicates the situation as I am hesitant to back them up due to possible infections.

To navigate this predicament, I devised a plan that involves leveraging Microsoft’s online services. By creating a Microsoft account, I can utilize Word Online to copy and paste my important text documents and images into new online files. This method raises a crucial question: Am I safeguarding myself against inadvertently transferring infected files in this manner?

Additionally, when it comes to my PDF files—which are often more complex to handle—I contemplated uploading them to a cloud service, then converting them back into PDF format after ensuring they are cleaned. This could serve as a way to secure uninfected versions of these documents.
