Resolving Mouse Lag on Your New ThinkPad: A Personal Journey
After countless hours of troubleshooting, I recently made a breakthrough in improving the mouse lag on my new ThinkPad P51. Removing Cortana resulted in a significant 75% reduction in the issues I was experiencing. However, I’m still grappling with that last lingering 25%, and I’m eager to explore additional solutions.
Over the past several days, I’ve dedicated over 50 hours to pinpointing the cause of persistent mouse lag while working with Flash-generated presentations in Chrome—a tool I rely on heavily for my job. Despite my best efforts, the issue has remained stubborn, even after uninstalling, reinstalling, and updating all drivers and applications. I have gone so far as to completely wipe and restore my system, yet the problem persists.
The frustration has been palpable, particularly because my mouse experiences stuttering every 3 to 5 seconds while navigating within the Flash slides. Initially, I suspected various software conflicts, and some community members suggested that Cortana might be a contributing factor. With her removal, I noticed an immediate improvement, yet the experience is still not as seamless as I would like.
Interestingly, I observed that mouse lag diminishes when I minimize the working window or scale down the slides themselves—but this is not a viable long-term solution, as I require a clear view of my work.
Now, I’m reaching out for more advice. Have any of you encountered similar issues, and if so, what steps did you take that made a difference? Your insights would be invaluable as I strive for a smoother experience on my machine.
Update: I appreciate all the suggestions I’ve received thus far. I’ve tried many of your recommendations, but the issue remains unresolved. To clarify, while my mouse performs flawlessly outside of the Flash slides, the stuttering reoccurs the moment my cursor crosses onto them. If anyone has insights or further troubleshooting tips, I’d love to hear them!
