Is My Google Assistant Trying to Control Me? A Tech Dilemma

Lately, I’ve found myself in an unsettling situation that could give anyone a few chills. For the past few months, my Google Assistant has been malfunctioning in peculiar and frustrating ways. Imagine trying to enjoy a video, only for the assistant to unexpectedly lower the volume, skip to the next one, or pause playback entirely. These little annoyances piled up, leading me to the conclusion that my assistant was becoming more than just a digital helper—it felt almost sentient.

In November, I decided enough was enough. I ventured into my device settings and disabled Google Assistant, hoping to restore my peace and quiet. Yet, curiously, the interruptions continued. Instead of the usual prompts I was accustomed to, I began seeing a notification stating, “Your Google Assistant is here to help, Turn On.” It was as if this technology was persistently trying to coax me back into activating it.

Given that my tablet is quite vintage—dating back to around 2012—I pondered if this odd behavior could stem from its age. Could it be that my outdated device has developed a peculiar form of awareness? Alternatively, am I dealing with a cyber intruder of some sort?

The most unsettling part came when I attempted to research how to permanently remove Google Assistant or determine if my device had been compromised. Each time I searched for information, the assistant would reappear, displaying that same persistent prompt, blocking my access to any potential solutions. It felt like a scene from a tech thriller, leaving me genuinely unnerved.

For anyone who has faced similar tech troubles, or if you have any insights on how to handle a situation like this, I would greatly appreciate your advice. It’s hard not to feel a bit paranoid, and I could use all the help I can get in regaining control over my device.
