Concerned About My Cybersecurity: Possible Router Hacking Incident

In the age of digital connectivity, we often take for granted the security of our home networks. Recently, however, I’ve found myself in a troubling situation that has raised serious concerns about my online safety and privacy.

It all started when I began to feel an unsettling sensation as if my neighbor was actually reading the contents of my computer screen. After some introspection, I speculated that my router might have been compromised. The current security protocol in use is WEP, which I have come to learn is known to be quite vulnerable.

As I attempted to investigate the issue further, I encountered a frustrating roadblock. Each time I tried to access my router’s settings, an error message informed me that the request “took too long” to process. This only added to my growing anxiety about my device’s security.

In an effort to uncover any potential security breaches, I’ve resorted to several programs, including HijackThis, Malwarebytes, and Wireless Network Watcher. Fortunately, these tools have not turned up any alarming indicators thus far. However, I am still left feeling uneasy and unable to confirm that my system is secure.

As I navigate this situation using my Windows 7 laptop, I’m reaching out for advice from anyone with experience in cybersecurity. Any insights or recommendations on enhancing my network security or resolving my router issues would be greatly appreciated.
