I’m an IT professional, and I’m completely stumped by this issue…

Troubleshooting a Non-Responsive Nvidia 3060: A Frustrated IT Perspective

As a professional in the IT field, encountering technical challenges is part of the daily grind. However, sometimes a problem feels insurmountable, even for those of us who are seasoned tech enthusiasts. I recently found myself in this predicament with a used laptop I acquired from my company.

This laptop features the Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU, which performed flawlessly for two weeks before suddenly failing. Since then, I’ve been on a quest to restore its functionality. Here’s a brief overview of the troubleshooting steps I’ve undertaken in hopes of resolving this issue.

Steps Taken:

  1. Driver Reinstallation: I began by uninstalling and then reinstalling the GPU drivers, hoping this would rectify the problem.

  2. BIOS Updates: I checked if there were any available BIOS updates and installed them, thinking that an outdated BIOS might be the cause.

  3. Software Reversion: In an effort to return to a more stable state, I reverted the BIOS and Windows updates that had been made recently.

  4. Downgrading Drivers: I even attempted to roll back to previous driver versions, just in case the newer updates introduced unforeseen compatibility issues.

  5. Windows Reinstallation: As a last resort, I completely reinstalled Windows and also explored earlier versions, seeking a solution that might restore the GPU’s performance.

Current Status:

Despite these efforts, when I check Device Manager, the Nvidia 3060 is detected without issues. However, it seems to be eluding recognition by any other program, leaving me perplexed about the next steps to take.

I’m reaching out to the community for assistance. Has anyone else faced a similar situation with an Nvidia GPU, and if so, do you have any advice or potential solutions? Your insights would be greatly appreciated as I continue trying to troubleshoot this conundrum.
