I’m an IT Professional Stumped: I Can’t Solve This Issue

Troubleshooting GPU Issues: A Tech Enthusiast’s Frustration with a Used Laptop

As an IT professional, I often encounter a variety of technical challenges, but lately, I’ve found myself stumped. Recently, I purchased a used laptop from my company, equipped with an Nvidia 3060 notebook GPU. Initially, everything was functioning perfectly for about two weeks. However, a few days ago, the GPU inexplicably ceased to operate.

In my quest to resolve the issue, I have undertaken a comprehensive series of troubleshooting steps. These included reinstalling the graphics drivers, performing BIOS updates, and even rolling back recent BIOS and Windows updates. I’ve also experimented with uninstalling the existing drivers and trying older versions, as well as reinstalling and downgrading the Windows operating system itself.

Interestingly, the GPU appears in Device Manager without any issues, yet it remains unrecognized by all other applications. This conundrum leaves me perplexed, and I’m reaching out to the community for insights. If anyone has experienced similar problems or can offer advice on additional troubleshooting strategies, your expertise would be greatly appreciated!

Let’s come together and tackle this issue—after all, the world of tech can be quite unpredictable, even for seasoned professionals.
