I need help, my laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad l340 Gaming) suddenly pass from average 60 fps to 30.

Troubleshooting Performance Issues on My Lenovo IdeaPad L340 Gaming Laptop

I recently encountered a frustrating issue with my Lenovo IdeaPad L340 Gaming laptop, where my gaming experience dramatically shifted from a stable 60 frames per second (fps) down to a disappointing 30 fps. This drop in performance has been consistent across all games, occurring after a few minutes of gameplay or even after an hour.

In my attempts to diagnose the problem, I monitored the laptop’s temperature and found it hovering around 75°C during gameplay. To optimize my performance, I also switched my battery settings to performance mode. Despite these adjustments, I struggled to uncover a solid solution through online resources.

After receiving valuable feedback from the community, it became apparent that the root of the issue was likely thermal throttling, which seems to kick in at temperatures around 78-80°C. A common suggestion from fellow gamers was to invest in a cooling pad to help manage the heat better.

Update on My Progress:

After several weeks of trying various fixes, I found success with a method called undervolting using ThrottleStop. This solution effectively reduced the heat produced by my laptop, enabling it to maintain a more stable performance during gaming sessions.

For anyone encountering similar issues with their laptops, I hope my experiences offer some insight. Remember, sometimes the solution might be as simple as taking steps to manage heat or adjusting performance settings. Thank you to everyone who contributed their advice along the way!
