Recently, I encountered a baffling and somewhat alarming situation with my laptop. Just a short while ago, while preparing to go to sleep, I noticed my cursor moving across the screen as if under its own control. To say I was unsettled would be an understatement.
This incident occurred approximately 20 minutes ago, and I had already disconnected my laptop from the internet. There I was, in the quiet of the night, when the mouse cursor suddenly started to navigate on its own. Naturally, this jolted me awake, and my first instinct was to check my Bluetooth settings. Perhaps my wireless mouse had somehow activated, but to my surprise, it was completely turned off.
What truly startled me was the precision with which the cursor moved—it opened a new browser tab in two different web browsers: Opera GX and Microsoft Edge. The movements appeared deliberate, almost as if someone was remotely accessing my system.
Given the unsettling nature of this event, I have a pressing question: how can I prevent unauthorized access to my computer? Would it be wise to reconnect my laptop to the internet solely to install antivirus Software, such as Malwarebytes, in hopes of detecting any potential threats?
