If you’ve ever found yourself in a situation where your laptop is acting unusually, you’re not alone. Many users experience unexplained slowdowns, unusual heat, and increased disk usage, sparking concern about possible malware infections. Recently, I encountered a similar issue with my Windows 10 laptop, and I’d like to share my experience and seek your insights.
Over the past month, I noticed that my laptop was running significantly hotter than I’ve ever seen before. Compounding my concern, I observed that my disk space was diminishing at an alarming rate—losing around 2 GB of storage each day. Alongside these symptoms, the performance of my laptop has noticeably declined, making even simple tasks feel sluggish.
Despite my worries, I have not recently installed any programs that could be deemed suspicious, which has left me puzzled. To combat this potential threat, I took proactive measures by executing two full system scans using Malwarebytes, as well as a complete scan with Windows Defender. Surprisingly, none of these comprehensive assessments flagged any issues.
In an effort to dig deeper, I attempted to run a scan in safe mode. Unfortunately, I discovered that Windows Defender does not activate in this mode. This has left me feeling stuck and unsure about my next steps in addressing this troubling situation.
