Before his pivotal role at Kraken, Nick held significant positions, including Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an industrial AI company, and Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a full-service cybersecurity firm. His expertise has led him to share invaluable insights at renowned conferences such as Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, and with organizations like the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, Interpol, and the United States Secret Service.

Nick’s passion for technology began at a tender age when he started coding on a Timex Sinclair 1000 in the early 1980s. His journey continued through the late ’80s and early ’90s as he navigated the Chicagoland bulletin board systems (BBS) using a Commodore 64 and later an Intel 386 PC, all while exploring the world of Linux.

As a prominent figure in the Chicago hacker community, Nick founded THOTCON, a hacker conference that will proudly host its twelfth edition in 2023. He has also been involved in investigating some of the largest data breaches in history, offering him a wealth of experience and knowledge in cybersecurity.

Currently, Nick is committed to developing robust security programs at Kraken to defend the cryptocurrency exchange against potential threats. His understanding of cybersecurity challenges is matched only by his enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge with others.
