Meet Nick Percoco

Nick’s journey in technology began early—he learned to code at just seven years old in the early 1980s on a Timex Sinclair 1000. His passion for technology saw him engaging in the local BBS scene during the late 80s and early 90s, starting with a Commodore 64 and later transitioning to an Intel 386 PC running Linux. This foundation laid the groundwork for his extensive career in cybersecurity.

Before his tenure at Kraken, he served as the Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an industrial AI company, and held the position of Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity firm. His expertise has been sought after at major conferences such as Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP, as well as by esteemed organizations including the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, Interpol, and the United States Secret Service.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Nick is an active participant in the Chicago hacker community, where he has organized THOTCON, which will celebrate its 12th iteration in 2023. Over the past four years at Kraken, he has been instrumental in developing robust security measures to safeguard the exchange against potential cyber threats.
