Nick’s journey into technology began in the early 1980s when he learned to code on a Timex Sinclair 1000 at just seven years old. His passion for technology led him to explore various platforms, from the Commodore 64 to an Intel 386 PC running Linux. From his early days, Nick has been deeply entrenched in the vibrant Chicago hacker community, even founding the hacker conference THOTCON, which will celebrate its 12th year in 2023.

His professional trajectory has been equally impressive. Before his current role at Kraken, Nick was the Chief Security Officer at Uptake, an industrial Artificial Intelligence company, and served as Vice President of Global Services at Rapid7, a comprehensive cybersecurity firm. He has shared his expert insights on security breaches, malware, and the latest trends in information security at elite events such as Black Hat, DEF CON, and OWASP. Nick has also engaged with high-profile organizations, including the Department of Homeland Security, US-CERT, Interpol, and the United States Secret Service.
